Limitless Learning

Designing accessible portals for student education.

BACKGROUND

This was a 2-day design sprint designing for a non-profit called Limitless Learning. This organization is dedicated to offering high-quality educational resources to underprivileged communities in Los Angeles. They wanted to create a digital platform that motivates elementary school students struggling in traditional school settings to improve in different subjects. I needed to design a dashboard that allowed students to see their progress in one glance and an example lesson.

INCLUSIVE DESIGN

What is Contrast?

Considering the purpose, I heavily prioritized accessibility. After designing the first pass, I started testing the accessibility of the design following the WCAG guidelines.

I tested the contrast further and found that majority of the color combinations did not satisfy accessibility guidelines.

So I designed a new version of the design using a contrast (the brighter colors on the darker blue) that fit the guidelines. I also included icons with the subject names to add further context.
